Exhibits

The Austin Center for Architecture is run by the Austin Chapter of the American Institute of Architects.  The AFA strongly supports the Center and encourages the community to enjoy many of the fine exhibits on Architecture.  The Center is located at 801 West 12th Street.  Past exhibits have included:

  • Cool Austin, Austin’s Mid-Century Modern Architecture – An exhibit in tandem with Austin’s Blanton Museum to highlight the mid-century masterpieces of Austin.
  • 99K House – In August 2008, the Rice Design Alliance and AIA Houston hosted a competition in response to the need for a “house that is affordable, sustainable and energy efficient”. Austin Center for Architecture was please to be host to the exhibit of entries.
  • TOGS – Temporary Outdoor Gallery Space, a program partially funded by the Austin Foundation for Architecture, Austin Art Alliance and the Austin Chapter of the American Institute of Architects to design temporary outdoor gallery spaces for the outdoor exhibit pavilions for the Art Alliance Austin’s annual showcase.
  • Architecture Artisan Collaborative – This exhibit highlighted those artisans who collaborate with architects to make their work go beyond the ordinary.
