The Austin Foundation for Architecture is a not-for-profit organized under the Austin Community Foundation. Personal donations to the foundation are tax-deductable.

The AFA is administered by an elected board who actively consider each grant or scholarship funding opportunity to determine if the funds are appropriately matched to the AFA mission.

In the 2-year fiscal period ending in December 2008, the AFA raised over $15,000 in direct gifts. Grants and scholarships were awarded totaling $4,000.

As of December 31, 2008, the AFA had $15,700 in the General Fund for grants to develop of public awareness, and $26,100 in the Fly Fund for leadership development opportunities (inclusive of pre-2007 funds held as the Fly Foundation).
